Little Stony National Recreation Trail
The Little Stony National Recreation Trail follows Little Stony Creek through a wide and deep gorge along an old narrow railroad bed. Large waterfalls can be found along this trail. It has two access points: Hanging Rock Picnic Area and by Bear Rock Rd (Forest Road 701). This trail shares the same route as the lower part of the Chief Benge Scout Trail. In some sections of the trail, hikers will need to climb over or around boulders and large rocks. Distance: 3 miles (one-way). Difficulty: Moderate.
The GPS coordinates included in this post will take you to the upper trailhead off Forest Road 701.
