Exploring
Our History
Norton and the surrounding High Knob Region are home to multiple museums that highlight the Appalachian region’s rich history – from coal mining to the region’s role in America’s westward expansion. Communities are also home to major music venues along The Crooked Road, a 330-mile driving trail through the Southwest Virginia mountains that celebrates the region’s heritage music. The region also boasts a wealth of local artisans that use a variety of media to share their stories.
